Banana Coast, the first mainland cruise destination in Honduras, opened in 2014. Major cruise lines Holland America, Carnival UK, Silversea, Oceania, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Thomson call at Banana Coast. The first season successfully hosted over 80,000 visitors.

Themed “Where the Rainforest Meets the Sea,” the port is located at the colonial city of Trujillo on the Caribbean Sea and will in the beautiful natural harbor at the Bay of Trujillo, where Columbus landed in 1502.

The project was developed by the Grande Trujillo Authoridad; a partnership between the Municipality of Trujillo, Canadian private equity, Life Vision Developments, and Global Destinations.

Banana Coast consists of a retail shopping destination of 20,000 Square Feet, a transportation hub, and an excursions marina. Guests depart on an array of 25 tours operated by Banana Coast Tours. Tours feature the fabulous flora and fauna of Honduras’ North Coast, cultural and historical exhibits. In total, the projects represent a US$20 million investment.
